The Grade 1 listed Parish Church of
St. Edburga, in Leigh, was started by the Normans in 1100, when the nave and chancel were built.
The tower dates from 1370 - 80, and houses a ring of six bells - the oldest two dated 1711 - together with a clock, given by the Rector in 1858.
In the 13th century a south aisle was added , and the chancel extended.
The porch dates from the 15th century.
In the chancel there are three beautiful 17th century tombs, for Walter Devereux, for Edmund Colles and for his son William, who lies with his wife and effigies of their 12 children.
There is a range of stained glass.
The Lady Chapel has a 12th century figure of Christ.
